Leprosy In India

Few people know that the Global Innovation Commons was originated out of an open source project done to help the national government develop a water supply to over 300 million people. Now the GIC has the ability to help India yet again but this time with their needs to treat Leprosy. It has been acknowledged that "leprosy is now curable and no patient should be excluded by society" and we look to help more by giving them access to technology helping with the cure. The Life Straw

As the Global Innovation Commons community grows and expands we become more and more aware oh the problems facing not only our users but to the world's population. When the G.I.C. first came to life it was called the "Water for India" project because our main focus was to provide open source technology to the government of India in hopes for them to get clean water to over 300 million people in a very short period of time. When we saw what we could provide to those in need in India we knew there was more to our data sources than met the eye which is how the Global Innovation Commons was born.

State Government Declares War On Buruli Ulcer

The Anamabra State Government, in Nigeria, has declared a full scale on the Buruli Ulcer disease. In early July, the Ministry of Health along with the state Epidemiologist, Department of Public Heath Services, the Doctor in charge of the State Tuberculosis & Leprosy office, met to discuss a new strategy to tackle the ailment. The Commissioner of Health, Professor Amobi llika, noted in the meeting that when the news of Buruli Ulcer's effect on his people reached the state government, the government felt disturbed and knew that something had to be done.

The 2010 Heritable Innovation Trust

Today our partner the Heritable Innovation Trust Program, published the 2010 Heritable Innovation Trust. In 2009, M·CAM established the Heritable Innovation Trust Program. The program has interns travel to different countries throughout the world, document heritable knowledge, and then create a network of information back and forth with the main goal of creating economic flow. They have already documented heritable knowledge in Papua New Guinea, Mongolia, and Ecuador.

GIC Challenge Update: Mongolian Greenhouses

For the past week M-CAM Inc has been honored to host D. Nergui from Mongolia Innovation Commons Partners (M-ICP). We have spent days discussing banking systems, trade credit offsets, and Global Innovation Commons projects. Yesterday, we had a local Charlottesville glass worker, Bill Hess, come in to show us samples and discuss with us some optionality for the Greenhouse Project. It was a delight to see the different types of glass he has created and discuss with him ways to use glass for filtration and heating.
