The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded QinetiQ North America’s ITS Corporation subsidiary a contract worth up to $100M over five years to replace or upgrade the Department of State’s telecommunications system at American embassies and posts worldwide, both for the State Department and other agencies of the foreign affairs community.
Under the Janus II Contract, QinetiQ North America’s Mission Solutions Group will support the State Department’s Foreign Posts Telephone Branch in the design and installation of telecommunications systems to meet the Department’s operational requirements, including supporting existing and new embassy mission buildings. The Foreign Posts Telephone Branch has implemented a program to replace or upgrade overseas telephone sites with newer digital switching technology. Janus II will continue the upgrades begun under the preceding DOSTEC and Janus I contracts, where approximately 258 overseas locations have been completed to date.
Nortel Government Solutions (NGS) will support QinetiQ North America in Janus II implementation and product delivery. NGS brings direct experience from ten years of successful support to Department of State Foreign Post Telephone customers.
QinetiQ North America will be delivering these state-of-the-art telecommunications systems through the GSA under the ANSWER Government-wide Acquisition Contract. The company’s ITS Corporation subsidiary is an ANSWER prime contractor, and has been ranked #1 in overall performance by ANSWER customers for nine straight years.
