HAIFA, Israel, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Israel's Elbit Systems reports it will supply the Israeli Ministry of Defense and an unidentified European army with light-weight weapon stations.
The weapons stations are to be installed on armored vehicles.
The Israeli award, worth $11 million, is for development and initial procurement as part of an upgrade process of the Israel military's lightweight weapons arsenal through which 7.62mm, 12.7mm and 40mm LWS are to be designed for installation on armored personnel carriers and armored fighting vehicles.
Elbit said delivery of the systems will take place over an 18-month period.
The European contract, valued at $10 million, is to supply 12.7mm LWS for installation on Pandur 6x6 vehicles.
