Alstom to supply 10 regional Coradia LINT trains
German rail operator LNVG has placed a €28 million order with Alstom Transport for 10 new Coradia Lint regional trains.
These trains - destined for Lower Saxony - will be delivered in June 2010. This is the second order for Coradia Lint trainsets that Alstom has received this year from LNVG. The contract, which includes spares and service, will enable the operator to continue to modernize its fleet of regional trains.
These diesel trains will have two coaches. They will be designed and produced at Alstom’s Salzgitter site in Germany. Each train can accommodate up to 127 passengers and travels at up to 120 kph. The continuous low floor, entry steps that can be lowered and raised, and gangways between the coaches make it easier to access the train and move around on board, particularly for people with reduced mobility. Lastly, the Coradia LINT trains are built according to Alstom's environmental policy: they are 95% recyclable and have filters that cut soot particle emissions by 95%.
Since the launch of the first regional trains in the Coradia LINT range in 2000, Alstom has sold 437 trains to both public and private operators in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark. These trains are tried and tested, and are particularly reliable, having covered over 350 million kilometres in commercial service.
