Biodigesters are used in industrial or domestic situations to convert waste into beneficial by-products such as compost, liquid fertilizer, fuel and biogas. Through the process of anaerobic digestion, microorganisms break down the biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen in four phases: Hydrolysis, Acidogenesis, Acetogenesis and Methanogenesis. Included in this set are patents covering digesters, microorganisms, pre-treatments for feedstocks and capture techniques for biogas and fertilizer.
