Paris, 21 April 2009 - The public company Canal Isabel II, which is in charge of water services in the Madrid area, has awarded a contract for the management of Spain's biggest wastewater treatment plant (in terms of daily flows treated) to a consortium headed by Veolia Water. It covers the operation and maintenance of the "South" plant, the main treatment plant for Madrid.
The four-year contract, which has a two-year extension clause, is worth cumulative revenue of approximately €16.4 million for Veolia Water.

Veolia Water has signed a contract with the public works authority of the city of Doha - Ashgal- to run the Operations and Maintenance of two wastewater treatment plants which were recycling and fully reuse for irrigation and agriculture.
This 7-year contract - including an option for a further 3-year extension- represents an estimated cumulated total turnover (without option) of 44 millions Euros (217MQAR).

Paris, September 15, 2009 - The Brazilian oil company Petrobras has awarded Veolia Water's subsidiary Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, under a 50/50 joint venture with Enfil, a Brazilian water treatment engineering company, the complete supply and construction of a water treatment and reuse station at Abreu e Lima Refinery, in Ipojuca, Pernambuco State. The amount of this contract for Veolia Water is worth about 119 million Euros.
Currently under construction, the new refinery will produce primarily diesel fuel and will process heavy oil from Brazil and Venezuela.

Veolia Water is now operating and maintaining the plant and intake/outlet structures under a 20 year contract. The city of Sydney is solely reliant on surrounding dams and rain for its drinking water.
The plant can supply an average of 250 megalitres of safe drinking water a day.
This is the equivalent of approximately 15 per cent of Sydney's water supply.
Seawater is treated using reverse osmosis which pushes seawater through membranes. Salt and any other impurities are removed, producing freshwater.

Attributed by Warsaw's public water and wastewater authority following an international call for tenders, the contract is worth an estimated amount of approximately €500 million for the consortium, of which approximately €148 million is for Veolia Water.
