More than 300 Bradley Fighting Vehicles are to be upgraded and provided to U.S. Army National Guard units by BAE Systems.

The $306 million award is a contract modification from the Army's TACOM Life Cycle Management Command. The earlier award -- worth $340 million -- was for buying materials for the upgrade.

"Our Bradley Fighting Vehicle has served alongside Army soldiers, helping them to accomplish their missions for more than two decades," said Joe McCarthy, vice president and general manager of Combat Vehicles at BAE Systems.

The Brazilian subsidiary of Italian vehicle manufacturer Iveco is to begin production of Guarani armored vehicles for Brazil's military forces.

Under the $118.6 million contract from the Brazilian Ministry of Defense, 86 VBTP MR wheeled armored personnel carriers will be produced.

Their production will allow the Brazilian army to restructure its mechanized forces and also set in motion an Iveco production process that could produce more than 2,000 Guaranis for the country.

A system that transmits video in real time among vehicles at significant distances from each other has been ordered by the U.S. Army.

Lockheed Martin said the contract for its commercial GyroLink system for the Remote -- Vehicle Optics Sensor System program is worth $21.4 million and will be used in route clearance vehicles.

Installation of the system in the Army's vehicles begins immediately.

Thales Australia will get integrated logistics support from Boeing's Australian subsidiary while building prototype vehicles for a military acquisition program. The 16-month prototype production phase of six Hawkei vehicles plus one trailer is part of the government's Land 121 Phase 4 program. Boeing Defense Australia will support Thales' design efforts by delivering development and training to operators conducting logistics support analysis and logistic engineering support. The award is worth more than $3.6 million.

Oshkosh supplying more trucks to Marines

OSHKOSH, Wis., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Marine Corps has ordered more than 200 cargo trucks and vehicle haulers from Oshkosh Defense.

The value of the order to the Wisconsin company is more than $94 million and deliveries of the vehicles are expected to be completed by September 2013.

The Logistics Vehicle System Replacement cargo truck is an articulated, 10-wheel tactical system that can carry and pull a total of 45,000 pounds of supplies and other materials. It can climb a 60 percent grade and a maximum speed of 65 miles per hour on roads.

PHOENIX, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Advanced survivability seats for U.S. Army Bradley Fighting Vehicles are to be provided by BAE Systems through a $10.8 million contract.

BAE's energy-absorbing seats, the Survivor Post Mount 1000 and Survivor Modular Troop 3000, will be produced at BAE's facility in Phoenix.

"This technology helps decrease the potential for spinal injuries that may result from the shock of a blast," said Frank Crispino, director of vehicle protection programs at BAE Systems Support Solutions.

LISLE, Ill., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Nearly 3,000 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles are to be outfitted with new suspension chassis by Navistar Defense LLC of Illinois.

Navistar said the suspension upgrade for 2,717 International MaxxPro MRAPs came in an $880 million order from the U.S. Marine Corps System Command and work on the project starts this month.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- The Swedish Defense Materiel Agency FMV has given BAE Systems Hagglunds a $100.8 million contract for all-terrain armored vehicles.

"After evaluating … two bids, including an overall assessment of the two vehicle systems' performance, price and life-cycle cost, FMV decided to assign the contract to BAE Systems Hagglunds and their model BvS10 MkIIB," says Peter Elmlund, project manager at FMV.

The 48 BvS10 MkIIBs for the Swedish military will be manufactured in four variants: armored personnel carrier, ambulance, logistics and command and control.

U.S. Marines renew MRAP service contract with Navistar

WARRENVILLE, Ill., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Employees of U.S. vehicle-maker Navistar Defense will continue in-theater support for MRAP vehicles in Afghanistan.

The Illinois company said a current field service support contract was renewed by the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command and work will continue until December 2012.

The contract renewal is worth $134 million.
