L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its L-3 Unidyne division has been awarded two firm-fixed-price contracts valued at $52 million to execute the U.S. Navy’s FY11 and FY12 Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) efforts for the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC). The awards include provisions for additional work, which if exercised, would bring the total value of the contracts to approximately $64 million. Work will be performed both in Virginia Beach, Va., and Camp Pendleton, Calif., and is expected to be completed by February 2014.

L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that it has been awarded a contract to replace the Machinery Control System (MCS) on Military Sealift Command's (MSC) T-AOE Fast Combat Support Ships. The total contract, valued at more than $40 million, includes design, manufacturing and testing of the new equipment for one ship, with options for the remaining ships of the class.
Additionally, the contract designates L-3 as the turn-key provider for the design, build, test, integration, installation, commissioning, and spares for the ship's new machinery and cargo control system.

Huntington Ingalls Industries is designing and building the U.S. Navy's LPD 27 amphibious transport dock.

The fixed-price incentive contract for detail design and construction is worth $1.5 billion.

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Systems engineering support to the U.S. Naval Warfare Center will be provided by CSC under a $38 contract task order, the company announced. The order, under a 2010 award, has a one-year base performance period and two one-year options. During this period, Virginia's CSC will provide emerging threat studies and analysis and conduct and develop prototype systems for the NWC's Joint Electronic Warfare Effects Laboratory and Electronic Warfare Arena product area.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln will receive refueling complex overhaul services from Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia.

Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., parent company of NNS, said company work will involve planning, design, engineering, material procurement, pre-fabrication and shipboard inspections.

The value of the cost-plus-fixed fee, level-of-effort contract option is $383 million.

MOBILE, Ala., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Austal USA is building the eighth and ninth Joint High Speed Vessels for the U.S. Navy under contract options worth $321.7 million.

The JHSV is a 337-foot, diesel engine-powered catamaran with a flight deck and seating for more than 300 troops, plus cargo.

The Navy gave Austal a contract to build the first JHSV in 2008, with options for nine more. The total value of the contract with the exercise of all options is $6.1 billion.
