L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its MPRI division has been awarded a $58 million firm-fixed-price task order with the government of Equatorial Guinea to establish a Maritime Security Enhancement Program (MSEP). This task order is the first part of a multi-year contract, with a potential value of approximately $250 million. The MSEP is designed to provide nationwide coastal surveillance coverage for the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has been awarded a $75 million deal to overhaul and upgrade the second of two Cakra Type 209/1300-class diesel-electric submarines operated by the Indonesian Navy.

A company official told Jane's on 27 April that work on KRI Nanggala is scheduled to commence by the middle of this year and be complete by July 2011.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. has won orders to build five 160,000 dwt SUEZMAX tankers at a cost of about Won400bn ($348.6m) for Angola's national oil company, Sonangol.

The shipbuilding contracts between the two companies were signed in Lisbon on Saturday, 20 February.

The 274 m long, tankers will have a beam of 48 m and a service speed of 15.4 knots. They will be delivered by the shipbuilder between mid-2011 and early 2013.

On July 20th, DSME won a new order to build four 320,000 DWT very large crude oil carriers (VLCCs) valued at US $440 million from Malaysia's AET (American Eagle Tanker Inc. Ltd.).

At a length of 333 meters long and a width of 60 meters, each of the VLCCs will be able to carry 320,000 tons of crude oil. The company is scheduled to deliver the vessels by October of 2013.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has won an order worth almost $1bn for ten containership newbuildings.

The South Korean yard has remained tight-lipped, however, on the identity of the owner behind the mommoth order for 8,400-TEU vessels.

A well-placed shipbroking source has, however, told TradeWinds that the $975m order is from Singapore's Neptune Orient Lines (NOL).

There are understood to be no optional contracts with the order. Delivery is set to be split between 2012 and 2013.

On August 16th in Seoul, DSME signed a $230 million order to build two container ships for Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines (NOL). DSME is scheduled to deliver these vessels by the fourth quarter of 2012.

Last month, DSME won a $1.2 trillion order to build ten 8,200 TEU container ships from the same company. DSME expects additional orders from NOL, which plans to reorganize its fleet focused on container ships.

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced today that on October 20th they signed a newbuilding contract with the  state-owned Sovcomflot to build a total of 12 Aframax crude/product carriers (including vessels to be built in Russia and optional units) worth around $800m.

The contract was jointly awarded to DSME’s Russian joint venture Zvezda-DSME and the 120,000-dwt tankers are scheduled to be delivered by 2014

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - June 9, 2010 - Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a contract to supply new radar systems for installation on 10 German Navy ships.
The contract was awarded to Northrop Grumman's Naval and Marine Systems Division by the German Navy procurement authority through the responsible naval departments.
The new 10-ship contract follows the successful completion of a four-year, $4.3 million program, under which the existing radars on 70 German navy ships were replaced by the company's Sperry Marine BridgeMaster™ E radar sets.
