Boeing reports it has received a U.S. Army contract for continued development of technology to improve helicopter maneuverability and performance.

The Phase II contract for the Adaptive Vehicle Management System is worth $18 million.

"This second phase will encompass more than 100 hours of flight test time and allow us to build on the great work we've accomplished over the past two years," said James Dryfoos, AVMS program manager for Boeing.

MARIGNANE, France, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Eurocopter's Brazilian will provide support services for EC725 helicopters flown by the country's military services under an $80.6 million, five-year contract.

The 50 twin-engine helicopters covered by the award are being manufactured at a new Helibras plant in Itajuba, Brazil.

Under the contract, Helibras will be responsible for spare parts and technical support for the aircraft, the first three of which have been delivered. It will also conduct the overhaul and repair of the helicopters.

BRASILIA, Brazil, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- The Brazilian subsidiary of Eurocopter has signed a contract for materials and operational support services for the Brazilian air force.

The work will be provided by Helibras in support of Brazil's fleet of EC-725 multi-role helicopters in a program to keep the aircraft's operational availability rate at more than 80 percent.

The contract is for five years and carries a value of about $80 million.

Under the government's H-XBR program contract, Helibras will be responsible for maintenance of EC-725 airframes and related components.
